Churchill is the reason they created the Churchill sized cigar. He was known for smoking eight to ten cigars a day and wouldn’t let anything come in his way when it was time for a great stogie. When flying at high altitudes, a special mask was created for Winston to ensure that he’d still be able to enjoy his favorite smokes; smokes primarily made up of Cuban varieties. Churchill’s favorite brand was none other than the famous Romeo y Julieta.
Here is a man that many of us may look up to as a REAL man for his mob mentality and his ability to get what he wanted while also being a some-what Robin Hood figure for those he cared for. Capone is known for saying goodbye to his freedom by lighting up a stogie and watching his world come crumbling down.
What we have here is a man that, while loving Cuban stogies, was ready to sign a treaty for the trade embargo between the U.S. and Cuba. So what did Mr. Kennedy do to ensure that he was still able to enjoy his favorite smokes? He gave 24 hours for his press secretary to scrounge up 1,000 Petit Uppmans so that he’d still have the perfect smoke while the rest of the country would be forced to smoke cigars made in the U.S. The Stick Stickler would just like to say, “Smart move, Mr. Kennedy.”
We all known Twain as the famous creator of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, but did you know that he was an extreme cigar aficionado? Twain is referenced to have said “If smoking is not allowed in heaven, I shall not go.” His favorite smokes seem to be anything that isn’t a Havana, someone has very strict tastes.
It takes a strong man to give up cigars like Castro did in 1985 when health concerns spread about Cuba and he decided to drop the habit in order to set an example for his people. Castro was very adamant about having cigars around and would hoard his last stogies for special occasions until his stock was replenished. He would often find himself dreaming of cigars, even when in reality who could not touch them. His favorite smoke was the Cohiba Corona Especial.
All real men know about The Great Bambino! But did you know that he actually had his own cigar productions while he was alive? If you’ve ever seen posters of him smoking a stogie, those posters were probably advertisements for his Babe Ruth cigars. When off the field, Ruth loved to have a good time with friends and women, especially cigars. He was known to be surrounded by cigars when relaxing or even after hooking up with the women that adored him. His favorite smoke was from his own line, the “Babe Ruth Perfecto”.
Bill Clinton
It's common to see pictures of Bill chewing on a cigar at the golf course, but how often do you think he actually gets to smoke one? With smoking often being banned at the white house by the lovely first ladies, it's hard to catch a president smoking a nice stogie. Let's hope this day in age, he actually gets to enjoy one or two.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
The Austrian Oak has been known to be into some questionable things, but at least he takes the time to be classy here and there with a good ole fashion stogie. From being a world class bodybuilder to being California's governor, it's hard to think he even has time to smoke a cigar, but when he does, boy does he look good doing so.
